King Zheng was able to claim the throne of the Qin state after defeating his political enemies; Lu Buwei and Lao Ai. With the help of his advisers, King Zheng formulated a plan to defeat the other six major states and unite China. Together they formed a tactical strategies based on, 'allying with distant states and attacking nearby ones.' Another major retribution to the Qin army was that they used a number of natural disasters to their advantage i.e earthquake and famine in the enemies states. After conquering the other six states, to separate himself from other warlords and kings, Zheng declared himself as the first Emperor of China.

- 221 BCE - China was unified under the Qin dynasty.
